Wrestler Dick Slater Dead At 67


The wrestling world lost a beloved and valuable member this Thursday. As RadarOnline.com has learned,”Dirty” Dick Slater has died.

“WWE is saddened to learn that Dick Slater has passed away at age 67,” wrote WWE on their website. “Slater was a prolific competitor during the 1970s and 1980s in Georgia Championship Wrestling, Mid-South Wrestling and Mid-Atlantic Wrestling, where he teamed with WWE Hall of Famer Bob Orton and had a memorable rivalry with WWE Hall of Famer Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts.”

Fans know Slater gained fame in the late 1980s and up until the early 1990s, when he competed in WWE championships.

“WWE extends its condolences to Slater’s family, friends and fans,” read the organization’s statement.

It is unknown if the 67-year-old had any health issues in his finals days, and the reason for his passing has not yet been released.

“The National Wrestling Alliance sends its deepest sympathies and condolences to the family, friends and fans of Dick Slater,” the NWA tweeted. “As tough as they come. A decorated champion of the @NWA across every territory he wrestled including being United States, Mid-Atlantic and TV champion.”
