Planned Parenthood Says It Still Believes Kavanaugh Accuser Julie Swetnick, Gets Wrecked On Twitter

The Planned Parenthood Action Fund, the lobbying arm of Planned Parenthood, decided the #MeToo movement wasn’t imploding fast enough on Thursday. To help that process along, the organization tweeted: “We still believe Julie Swetnick. #BelieveSurvivors”

Swetnick, you may recall, signed a sworn affidavit claiming she “witnessed Brett Kavanaugh consistently engage in excessive drinking and inappropriate contact of a sexual nature with women during the early 1980s.” She also claimed she “became aware of efforts” by Kavanaugh and his friend to “spike” the “punch” with “drugs and/or grain alcohol” to lower girls’ inhibitions. Oh, and she apparently witnessed lines of men waiting to gang-rape unsuspecting women and was even gang-raped herself at one of these parties, which she apparently kept attending despite the gang rapes and the fact that she had already graduated high school.

That was her original statement. When she was interviewed by NBC — despite the ludicrous nature of her claims — she changed her story multiple times. NBC also opened the interview by admitting it couldn’t verify anything she said, but still chose to put her on national TV to smear a then-Supreme Court nominee (Kavanaugh is now an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court).

In her NBC interview, Swetnick said she only saw Kavanaugh and his friend near the punch bowl, but never saw them “spike” it. She also walked back her gang-rape claim, saying she only saw men “huddled by doors” and didn’t know why.

Swetnick’s credibility had been further damaged by her previous legal disputes, including one where she allegedly made false accusations of sexual misconduct as payback for being accused of misconduct herself.

Swetnick provided the names of four people whom she said could corroborate her story. One was dead, one said they did not remember anyone named Julie Swetnick, and the other two didn’t respond.

The Swetnick spectacle was so bad that major Democrats blamed her attorney, celebrity lawyer Michael Avenatti, for hurting their attempts to destroy Kavanaugh’s nomination and reputation.

Today, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) referred Avenatti and Swetnick to the Justice Department for criminal investigation “for providing false statements, obstructing congressional investigations, and conspiracy to violate federal law over allegations,” The Daily Wire previously reported.

Shortly after news of the referral broke, there was Planned Parenthood defending Swetnick. It did not go over well among conservatives on Twitter. The original tweet was horribly ratio’d with six times as many comments as retweets (at the time of this writing). But the comments from conservatives were on point.

The Daily Wire’s own Emily Zanotti got in on the action:

The Free Beacon’s Alex Griswold had the most devastating take:

But Townhall’s Matt Vespa probably summed it up best:
